Flu

Flu occurs every year, usually in the winter, which is why it’s sometimes called seasonal flu. It’s a highly infectious disease with symptoms that come on very quickly. Flu can cause fever, extreme tiredness, aching muscles and joints, stuffy nose, dry cough and sore throat. Healthy individuals usually recover within two to seven days, but for some, the disease can lead to hospitalisation, permanent disability or even death.

We are offering enhanced flu vaccines this season, in line with guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), which recommends these formulations over standard flu vaccines for optimal protection.

The Vaccine

Who can have this vaccine?

Adults aged 18 and over.
It is also licenced for children from 6 months and is a safe and effective option. However, for most children, the nasal flu vaccine is the recommended choice as it tends to give a strong immune response and is easier to administer. The nasal vaccine is only available through the NHS.
