What is the MenB vaccine?

The MenB vaccine protects against meningococcal group B bacteria, a cause of meningitis and sepsis. These infections can develop rapidly and can be serious, particularly in children and young people.

Who might consider the MenB vaccine?

The vaccine is given in infancy on the NHS, providing early protection. However, immunity can decrease over time, meaning teenagers and young adults may no longer have the same level of protection.
