Typhoid

Typhoid fever is an infection that can cause a range of symptoms ranging from fever, diarrhoea, myalgia (aching muscles) and headache to severe disease with multi-organ involvement. Typhoid is transmitted from an infected person primarily via the oral route following ingestion of contaminated food or water.

How is it given?

This is an injection in the upper arm.

How long does protection last?

A booster dose is recommended every three years for people who remain at risk from typhoid fever.

Other information

Immunity develops 1-3 weeks after the injection
