Cholera
Cholera is an infection that can cause severe diarrhoea. It's not found in the UK, but there's a very small risk of getting it while travelling in some parts of the world.
The Vaccine
Who can have this vaccine?
Adults and children 2 years+
Doses required
2 doses (3 doses for children aged 2-6)
Each dose should be 1-6 weeks apart

How is it given?
This is given as a drink.
How long does protection last?
For continuous protection against cholera, a single booster dose is recommended two years after completing the primary course for adults and children over six years of age, and after six months for children aged two to six years.
Other information
The course must be finished at least 1 week prior to potential exposure. Food and drink should be avoided for one hour before and one hour after each vaccination.
Possible temporary side effects: fever, digestive problems, headache.
